“With the use of composition, color and texture the intention behind my work is to create an image that is unique, visually pleasant and that challenges the perception of digital art” I see myself continuing with the exploration of new techniques and creating larger, more significant pieces and getting closer to my goal of retiring and opening my own Art Gallery in Spain.
Born in Hermosillo Sonora Mexico in 1960, Abelardo became a licensed Architect in 1985, the same year he traveled to Washington DC and met his wife. Subsequently, he moved to New Jersey where he established his permanent residence with his wife and two daughters. Abelardo has been practicing architecture since he arrived to the US, and he truly enjoys his profession. He is a skilled designer, and among his most notable projects is ”The Charles H. Bullock Elementary School” in Montclair NJ, where he designed the facades and the main lobby which included the interior lighting fixtures and the terrazzo floor at the main lobby where he used the Fibonacci Ratio as the base of his design. An avid photographer all his life, in 2014 he began experimenting with the digital manipulation of his photography and illustrations. The intention behind his photographs is to expose the beauty of a variety of subjects through the enhancement of their color, texture and details which he captures through the lens and enriches digitally and through the printing process. He also applies this principle to his artwork which reflects the influence of his heritage and of his favorite Mexican painters: Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Zúñiga and David Alfaro Siqueiros. For the past years Abelardo’s art has been shown at the “Art All Night” and “Art All Day” in Trenton NJ. where he received high praise from the general public. His piece “Iguanas Ranas” received the “Best in Show” mix media category award by the Ellarslie Trenton Museum during their 2015 Open 32 Juried Exhibit. Most recently, his work appeared on the opening credits of the movies “Casement” , “Goya” and “Joan of Arc” by Frederick Olessi .His work was also used by the Princeton Community TV for the advertisement of the movies ( https://vimeo.com/135493784 / https://vimeo.com/153504107 / https://vimeo.com/162970837 ) His latest photography exhibit “EXPRESSIONS” at the Jay Goodkind Gallery in Hopewell NJ. received high praise from the general public. Abelardo is now working in two more movies with Mr. Olessi, curating of his photographs and artwork in preparation for his first solo art exhibit that is to take place in November at the “Artworks Gallery” in Trenton NJ.
